This is a Titanium straw.
Well, it is better than your ordinary plastic straw. Through this, you can sip any beverage in this world, even boiling water (but do not try unless you are suicidal).
Now, Google the term.
Sadly, the first few URLs are not very SEO friendly. (And, I am not lying!)
You see the link first three links are from trusted websites. Search engines, like Google, will prefer these links over others because of the domain authority that these sites have established over the years.
If you set the domain authority factor at a side, the URL generated at ThinkGeek has a product code, instead of a product name. Moreover, Amazon is using keywords in its URLs.
However, there is a URL in the search results that goes by the book.
It is the link to a blog post which highlights the relation between Beyonce and her demands of “titanium straw”. When you open this link, you can observe the properly structured URL.
Even though, it is not what I want, the good URL structure helps it to be on the first page of search results.
Why use SEO friendly URLs on Magento?
A great SEO friendly URL is like the one given below:
While there is a lot of doubt about the positive effects you gain from search engines by making SEO friendly URLs, there is no doubt in the effectiveness of these URLs in helping users find the desired solutions, products, or services. Because of their structured approach, a user can easily understand what a page is all about. In many cases, it provides conversions.
What others have to say
“According to SpiderOrbit, avoid keyword stuffing in URL. Make sure the user can easily understand about the page through URL but that doesn’t mean to include every single preposition or conjunction. And, also you should avoid the same keyword multiple times in URL that is the major reason for unexpected drop in rankings.”
If you are running an online store using Magento, there is a chance you might not have SEO friendly URLs. This simple tutorial shows how you can do it in 3 simple steps. However, before we begin, please create a backup of your data as a safety measure.
- Login into your Magento Admin panel. Then click “System” and choose “Configuration”. Now, select the option titled “Web”. Here, you will see many options. Click on “Search Engine Optimizations”. Choose “Yes”. This removes index.php from your current URLs. Save the configuration.
- To remove .html or .php from the end of the URLs, you need to go to “System” and then select “Configuration”. Here, you click on “Catalog”. Again, you will see many options. Find “Search Engine Optimizations”. Locate the Product Suffix and Catalog Suffix fields. Remove the default entries in these fields. Save the configuration.
- Now, you need to ‘re-index’ the URL structure in order for this to work. For this, go to “System” and then select “Index Management”. Check the box next to “Catalog URL Rewrites” and click on “Re-index Data”.
