How is this different from running an AI agent on my laptop?
When an AI agent runs on your laptop, it has access to your filesystem, your browser, your documents, and any credentials cached on the machine. If the agent is compromised ( through a malicious skill, a prompt injection attack, or a software bug), everything on your machine is at risk. Running it on dedicated managed infrastructure isolates the agent from your personal data. The agent gets its own workspace with only the data and credentials you explicitly hand to it.
What AI agents are supported, and are more being added?
Cloudways Managed Agent Hosting currently supports OpenClaw. We are actively expanding the library, with new AI agents added regularly. If you have an agent you would like to see supported, let us know.
What do I need to get started?
All you need is a Cloudways account and an LLM API key from your preferred provider. Pick your AI agent, choose a region, and your agent is provisioned and running within minutes.
Do I need technical knowledge to set this up?
No. The setup process requires no server configuration, no Docker, and no command-line work. If you want deeper access, SSH credentials are available in the dashboard.
Which LLM providers can I connect with my AI agents?
You can connect your own API keys from any major LLM provider, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini. Your keys stay yours, and Cloudways never bills you for LLM usage.
Is there a free trial?
During Public Preview, Cloudways Managed AI Agent Hosting is free to try (subject to applicable terms). After Public Preview, intro pricing kicks in at a limited-time discount before standard pricing applies.
I already have a Cloudways account. Do I need to sign up separately?
No. Managed Agent Hosting is built into the same Cloudways dashboard you already use. Same account, same billing, same support team. You can launch your first AI agent directly from your existing dashboard.
Can my AI agent access my personal files or work documents?
Not unless you explicitly give it access. Your agent runs in an isolated environment on Cloudways infrastructure. It has access to its own workspace, the LLM you connect via API key, and any messaging channels (WhatsApp, Slack) you set up in the dashboard. It does not have access to your laptop, your work computer, your cloud drive, or any data outside what you provide.
Is my data secure, and where is it stored?
Your AI agent runs on a dedicated server with managed SSL, automated backups, and validated version updates handled by Cloudways. You choose the region your AI agent is hosted in, giving you control over where your data lives. This fulfills an important requirement for teams with compliance or data residency requirements.
What happens to my data if I delete my AI agent?
When you delete the agent, the associated instance is decommissioned. The most recent automated backup is retained for 14 days for recovery, after which it's permanently deleted. Your LLM provider data flows are governed by your agreement with that provider.
How do you handle agent updates?
Cloudways tests each new release before making it available on your instance. The validated-version approach reduces the risk that an update breaks your agent . We prefer to hold back releases with known regressions until they stabilize, so you don't update into a broken state.
