A few days ago, Maaz wrote a great blog post about brute force attacks on password-protected entities. In his article, he has mentioned that Cloudways has a built-in SSH/SFTP protection system that deflects attacks by blocking IP addresses involved in dubious login attempts.
Considering the fact that these attacks are becoming sophisticated by each passing day, it is necessary to have security measures in place.
However, there are cases where you need to get trusted IP addresses under a whitelist. You want this in order to keep your entry unrestricted to your server.
This is why we have introduced a Security section in the Server Management tab of Cloudways Cloud Console.
Through this new section, you can create a whitelist of IPs that can access a particular server. This comes in handy when you are collaborating over different networks or regions. Once an IP is whitelisted, the users of the IP will have unrestricted access to SSH and SFTP. Therefore, use this feature wisely.
Check out the Knowledge base entry for this feature for more information.
