We focused on what matters most: you, our customers. With your trust as our guide, we’ve pushed the boundaries of innovation, enhancing our platform with new features and optimizations. Our goal has always been to make managed hosting simple, reliable, and scalable.

From product launches to community engagement and building a more secure hosting environment, 2024 was all about empowering you to achieve more. Together, we’ve made great progress and are proud of it.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments in 2024 and look ahead to an even brighter 2025.

Product Enhancements in 2024: We Made Cloudways Faster, More Reliable, Secure

Each of our product enhancements reflects our team’s dedication to improving Cloudways as the best-managed hosting platform, enhancing security, and optimizing performance for all users.

Here are some of the most prominent product enhancements we made in 2024:

Q1 2024

  • Per-Site Object Caching Control for WordPress Apps: We introduced Per-Site Object Caching Control for WordPress applications, offering users more control over the performance of individual sites without impacting others. This feature is ideal for users managing multiple websites, as it provides flexibility in optimizing each site’s performance according to its specific needs.

Q2 2024

  • Client Billing Launch: With the launch of Client Billing, we took the first step toward building our Agency Suite. This new feature allows agencies to send invoices directly from the Cloudways platform—eliminating the need for third-party tools. Agencies can now streamline their billing processes, saving time and helping to ensure a seamless financial workflow.
  • Reintroduction of Vultr and Linode: We reintroduced Vultr and Linode to Cloudways, expanding our network to include 23 new data centers in global regions such as Johannesburg, Warsaw, Miami, and São Paulo. This expansion helps enhance our users’ ability to choose cloud providers that best suit their needs, improving performance and flexibility.
  • Launch of Larger DigitalOcean Premium Droplets: Recognizing the need for powerful hosting solutions, we introduced larger premium droplets for DigitalOcean (32 GB, 48 GB, and 64 GB), providing high-performance options for mission-critical websites. These larger droplets offer the scalability and speed needed to meet the demands of growing businesses.
  • Application Migration Add-On UX Overhaul: We improved the Application Migration add-on with a complete user experience (UX) overhaul. The shift from a modal-based interface to a full-page migration flow enhances usability, reduces the risk of data loss, and ensures smoother migrations for our users, streamlining the process of moving websites between servers.
  • Introduction of MyDumper Backup Utility: We introduced MyDumper as a new backup utility to further improve performance and efficiency. This tool optimizes backup speed for large databases and websites with multi-threading capabilities, helping ensure quicker backups and better server performance, even during high-demand periods.
  • Malware Protection Add-On Becomes Generally Available: Our Malware Protection add-on, which underwent a successful beta, is now available for all customers. This powerful tool provides enhanced security against cyber threats, offering phishing protection, automated malware cleanup, and proactive defense to help safeguard users’ websites.

Q3 2024

  • Bulk Domain Management: Managing multiple domains became easier with the launch of Bulk Domain Management. This feature allows users to add multiple domains to their applications at once, saving time and improving the user experience.
  • PHP 8.3 Availability: We enabled PHP 8.3 for our users, allowing them to update their PHP versions to the latest release. This update improves performance, security, and compatibility with modern web applications.
  • New DC for Linode in Washington, D.C.: As part of our continuous infrastructure expansion, we launched a new data center for Linode in Washington, D.C. This gives our users more hosting options and better geographical coverage, further optimizing the performance of their websites and applications.
  • New Cloudflare Security Rule for AI Scrapers: We added a new Cloudflare security rule to block AI scrapers and crawlers, enhancing security by automatically blocking harmful bots. This update helps protect our customers’ sites from malicious scrapers that compromise performance and content integrity.
  • AWS Micro SKU Launch: We introduced a new AWS Micro SKU, offering an affordable hosting solution for small-scale applications while maintaining top-tier performance. Starting at $20.56/month, this option makes high-quality cloud hosting accessible to more users.
  • Deployment of MariaDB 10.6: We deployed MariaDB 10.6 as the default database for new servers on Debian 11, improving database performance and reliability. This transition helps enhance our platform’s ability to handle demanding applications more effectively.
  • Server Upgrade to Debian 11: To help ensure our platform remains secure and up-to-date, we transitioned all Cloudways servers from Debian 10 to Debian 11. This upgrade improves security and performance, helping to keep our customers’ websites running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Bandwidth Consumption Visibility: We launched Bandwidth Consumption Visibility, giving users greater control over their bandwidth usage. This feature is particularly valuable in cloud environments like AWS and Google Cloud, where bandwidth management can directly impact cost and performance.
  • Enhanced SafeUpdates with Health Check: SafeUpdates was enhanced with a health check feature to prevent updates from being executed on disabled applications. This improves the update process by preventing errors and helps ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Transition to PHP 7.4: As part of our ongoing security improvements, we began transitioning servers to PHP 7.4. This update helps ensure that our platform remains secure and compatible with the latest web standards, providing a stable hosting environment for our customers.

Q3 2024: Scaling and Optimizing for Future Success

  • Top Customer Visibility: By gaining visibility into the top Cloudways customers, we were able to track their health metrics and proactively resolve any potential issues, ensuring long-term satisfaction.
