Rackspace vs Titan: Which Cloudways Email Add-On Is Right for You?

Updated on August 5, 2026

6 Min Read

If you run business email on Cloudways, you have a new option to consider. Alongside Rackspace, Cloudways now offers Titan Email, a modern email add-on built into the same dashboard you already use.

A quick note before we start: Rackspace is not going away. If it covers what you need, you can stay on it. Nothing here is a push to switch. It is a comparison so you can choose with the full picture in front of you.

Introducing Titan

Titan is the more modern of the two email options on Cloudways. It adds mobile apps, better security, larger mailboxes on higher plans, and productivity and AI tools that Rackspace does not offer. It is managed from your Cloudways dashboard, and migrating your email over is free. You can either handle the process yourself or let our support take care of it for you.

Rackspace is still a solid, familiar choice. If your setup is simple and works for you, there is no reason you have to move to Titan.

A Closer Look at Titan’s Features and Capabilities

Here is what each of those rows means once you are actually using your Titan email.

Modern, Mobile Experience

Titan ships with iOS and Android apps, so your email travels with you without extra setup. Its webmail is a modern, full-featured interface with built-in calendar and contacts, multi-account support, undo send, and email templates.

Rackspace covers the basics of webmail and calendar but does not offer mobile apps or these extras.

Mailbox Storage

Rackspace gives every mailbox a fixed 25 GB.

Titan starts at the same 25 GB on Pro and scales up to 50 GB on Premium and 100 GB on Ultra, so users with more usage have room to grow without leaving the platform.

Security

Titan includes advanced anti-virus, advanced anti-spam, and grammar and spell check across all plans.

Rackspace offers basic spam filtering but does not include advanced anti-virus. If security is a priority, this is one of the clearer gaps between the two.

Productivity and AI

On its higher plans, Titan adds tools Rackspace does not have: Smart Write for AI-assisted composing, AI summaries, priority inbox, labels, send later, and email campaigns and bookings. These sit on Premium and Ultra, so check the plan details for exactly what is included where. If your team lives in email all day, these are the features that save the most time.

Management

Both products give you an admin console for detailed settings. The difference is that with Titan, buying a plan, adding a domain, and setting up mailboxes all happen inside the Cloudways dashboard, next to the rest of your hosting decisions, rather than in a separate flow.

What stays the same

Moving to Titan does not mean giving up the essentials. IMAP and POP support, two-factor authentication, data encryption, custom DKIM, HTML signatures, and email aliases are all included in Titan. You lose nothing by moving away from Rackspace.

Where Rackspace (may) Still Fits in Your Operations

To be straight with you, Titan is not ahead on everything.

Rackspace allows a higher sending volume per mailbox, up to 10,000 emails per day.

Titan’s limits are 500 per day on Pro, 1,000 on Premium, and 2,000 on Ultra. For everyday business email this is plenty, but if you send in very high volumes from a single mailbox, Rackspace still has the edge there.

And if your current setup is simple and working well, there is nothing wrong with staying on Rackspace.

Titan Plans and Pricing

Titan comes in three plans, billed per mailbox per month, and you can change plans later, as your email requirements evolve.

Plan Price per mailbox / month Storage per mailbox Best for
Pro $1.99 25 GB Everyday business email
Premium $3.99 50 GB Teams that require more storage and productivity tools
Ultra $8.99 100 GB Power users who want the full feature set

A loyalty offer for Rackspace customers

Rackspace price increases to $1.50 per mailbox per month on September 1, 2026. When Titan becomes available, you can get Titan Pro at the same $1.50 per mailbox per month for your first 30 days, on one domain with unlimited mailboxes. After that, standard pricing of $1.99 per mailbox per month applies, after your first 30 days of use.

You can claim the offer for up to three months after Titan launches.

Moving your email to Titan

Migration into Titan is free. You can either run the process yourself or ask our support engineers for a supervised migration.

Your existing mail and contacts are moved, with nothing lost. You can move at your own pace, and you can keep some domains on Rackspace while you try Titan on others, so there is no all-or-nothing switch.

Ready when you are

Titan Email is coming to Cloudways, and Rackspace customers get the first look. When it opens, you will be able to set it up from your dashboard in a few steps, or reach our support team any time through 24/7 live chat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Rackspace price increasing?

Rackspace is raising its price from $1.00 to $1.50 per mailbox per month, effective September 1, 2026. This applies to all active Rackspace mailboxes on Cloudways.

When does the new price take effect?

September 1, 2026. Your next invoice on or after that date will reflect the new pricing.

Is anything else about my Rackspace email changing?

No. Your mailboxes, storage, features, and settings stay the same. This is a price-only change.

Do I need to do anything?

No. If you want to stay on Rackspace, the new price applies automatically.

Is Rackspace being discontinued?

No. Rackspace remains fully available, and you can keep using it for as long as you like.

What is Titan Email?

Titan Email is a modern email add-on available directly in your Cloudways dashboard. It offers mobile apps, a built-in calendar, advanced anti-virus, and AI-assisted writing on higher plans.

How is Titan different from Rackspace?

Titan matches Rackspace on the essentials (IMAP and POP, two-factor authentication, encryption, custom DKIM, aliases) and adds mobile apps, larger mailboxes on higher plans, advanced anti-virus, AI and productivity tools, and free managed migration.

What plans does Titan offer?

Titan offers three plan tiers: Pro, Premium, and Ultra. They differ mainly in storage per mailbox and the features included. You choose a plan at purchase and can change it later.

What is early access?

As an existing Rackspace customer, you can try Titan free for 14 days ahead of general availability. The $1.50 loyalty offer becomes available at general availability on September 1, 2026.

Do I have to join early access?

No. Early access is an option, not a requirement. You are welcome to stay on Rackspace and move to Titan whenever you are ready. If you do join, early access lets you use Titan free, and when it ends your mailboxes move to a paid plan. You can handle the migration yourself or have our support team do it for you.

What is the loyalty offer?

As a thank-you for being a Rackspace customer, you can get Titan Pro at $1.50 per mailbox, the same as the new Rackspace price, for as many mailboxes as you need on one domain. This offer applies to your first 30 days of Titan usage.

How long do I have to claim it?

The offer opens when Titan is generally available and stays open for the next three months.

Does the offer apply to all my domains and mailboxes?

It applies to one domain, with no limit on the number of mailboxes on that domain. Additional domains, and usage beyond the first discounted month, are billed at standard Titan pricing.

What happens after the first discounted month?

Your Titan Pro mailboxes continue at standard Pro pricing ($1.99 per mailbox per month), unless you change your plan.

Will I lose any email if I move to Titan?

No. Migration is managed by our support team, and your mail and contacts are moved across for you.

Does it cost anything to migrate to Titan?

No. Migration into Titan is free, whether you are coming from Rackspace or another provider.

Can I use both Rackspace and Titan at the same time?

Yes. You can keep some domains on Rackspace and run Titan on others while you decide.

How do I manage Titan?

You buy a plan, add your domain, and create mailboxes from your Cloudways dashboard. You can access mailboxes and carry out most of the mailbox-related actions right from within the Cloudways dashboard.

Who do I contact with questions?
