From a modest dorm-room workspace to a growing digital agency, Jacob Rambo built Web Rocket with a clear vision: helping businesses thrive online through performance, trust, and innovation. His story is one of persistence, learning, and a passion for meaningful digital impact.
What began as a solo freelance project has since evolved into a full-service agency supporting small to medium-sized businesses across Canada. Through dedication, collaboration, and smart automation, Web Rocket continues to scale while keeping personal relationships and client satisfaction at its core.
Jacob’s journey reflects a modern entrepreneurial spirit, balancing creativity with strategy and technology with empathy. Each challenge became a building block, shaping an agency known not just for results but for reliability, authenticity, and a genuine drive to help others succeed.
From Side Hustle to Agency
Web Rocket began as a solo freelance venture by Jacob Rambo while he was still in university, running it as a side hustle. “During my entrepreneurial co-op from January to April 2025, everything changed,” Jacob recalls. “That period gave the business real focus and momentum.”

The experience helped him accelerate growth, set clear priorities, and build the foundation for what Web Rocket has become today. Since then, the agency has expanded steadily, creating scalable systems, automation workflows, and strong client relationships. The focus, Jacob says, “has always been on building organic growth that lasts.”
Serving Local Businesses
Web Rocket works mainly with small to medium-sized businesses that need fast, reliable hosting, website maintenance, digital marketing, SEO, and automation services. While the agency does not confine itself to a single niche, Jacob admits, “We have a special appreciation for local trades, construction, and other service-based businesses.”

These industries rely heavily on visibility, performance, and trust, values that align perfectly with Web Rocket’s mission. “We want to make sure every client’s online presence works as hard as they do,” Jacob explains.
Milestones and Challenges
One of the agency’s proudest milestones was acquiring a 50-client portfolio from another business. “We took great care to honor every existing agreement,” Jacob says. The team supported long-term organizations, some active for decades, maintaining trust while expanding. That commitment shows in Web Rocket’s impressive average response time of around two hours, which continues to improve as systems become more refined.

But growth has not come without obstacles. “The hardest part,” Jacob admits, “has been maintaining close relationships with clients while scaling operations.” The team stays proactive by checking in regularly and paying attention to small details.
One example is their backup strategy. Even though Cloudways handles automatic backups, Web Rocket also keeps secondary off-site backups to protect every client’s data in two separate locations. “It takes extra time,” Jacob says, “but those careful steps make a big difference over the long term.”
Tools, Strategies, and Lessons
Jacob credits three main strategies for Web Rocket’s growth: building genuine relationships in the community, forming partnerships with agencies across Canada, and approaching outreach with authenticity. “Our goal is always to help first,” he emphasizes, “not just to make a sale.”
When projects become difficult, especially those with unclear requirements, Jacob and his team rely on clear contracts and detailed planning. “We’ve learned that well-defined requirements make everything easier,” he explains. “It keeps expectations aligned while still allowing flexibility for unlimited revisions until the client is happy.”
The agency also relies on powerful tools to stay efficient. Cloudways keeps client websites fast, secure, and stable. HubSpot manages relationships and automates follow-ups, while Zapier ties everything together with custom integrations that streamline workflows. “Automation helps us stay consistent while scaling,” Jacob says.
Looking Ahead with Purpose
Jacob’s vision for the next five years is bold. “We want to become one of the most trusted and recognized web agencies in Canada and North America,” he states. To achieve this, Web Rocket is investing in team training, automation, SEO, and new client services. The agency plans to expand its organic reach, refine internal systems, and develop automation features that help clients work more efficiently.
Jacob first discovered Cloudways through Reddit while researching hosting options. “After days of comparing, Cloudways stood out for its performance, simplicity, and reliability,” he recalls. Features like SafeUpdates, staging sites, and visual regression testing have been game changers, saving time and preventing downtime.

Before Cloudways, the team tried providers such as HostGator and Bluehost. “Those work fine for smaller projects,” Jacob notes, “but Cloudways feels built for agencies that manage many clients. The difference in speed, stability, and control is huge.”
When asked what advice he would give to aspiring agency founders, Jacob keeps it simple: “Just start. You’ll never have it all figured out. Each mistake teaches something valuable. Focus on growth, consistency, and taking one step at a time.”
For Jacob and his team, one guiding belief stands at the heart of it all: “Every challenge is an opportunity for growth.”
