Agency Spotlight: Justin Deboves on Building Aloha Pixel With Purpose and Precision

Some agencies start with a business plan. Aloha Pixel started with two convictions. Small businesses deserve the same web craftsmanship as big brands, and a business can help the ocean without pretending to save the world alone.

Founded in October 2024 near Pau in the French Pyrenees, about an hour from the Atlantic coast, Aloha Pixel began as a one-person operation led by Justin Deboves. From day one, the name carried real weight behind it.

For Deboves, Aloha was never just branding. It stood for respect, sharing, and responsibility, values that now shape everything the agency does, from how it writes code to how it treats clients.

Craft Meets Ocean Purpose

Aloha Pixel designs and manages premium WordPress and WooCommerce websites on a monthly subscription. Its clients are mostly local businesses, artisans, and growing e-commerce brands looking for quality without a big upfront cost.

The subscription model removes that barrier. After twelve months, clients become full owners of their site, with no strings attached.

Ocean protection sits at the center of the brand. For every web subscription, the agency adopts a coral with Coral Gardeners. It also gives 1% of revenue to Stripe Climate and runs its hosting on renewable energy.

“I chose this niche because it is simply who I am: the web is my craft, the ocean is my compass,” Deboves explains.

Recognition Built on Trust

In 2025, Aloha Pixel was named an Ocean Friendly Establishment by Plastic Ocean Project, an international ocean conservation nonprofit. The recognition mattered because it proved the agency’s commitment was real, not just a marketing label.

But Deboves points to a quieter milestone as the true measure of success. Clients now run their entire revenue through sites Aloha Pixel builds and operates daily, including e-commerce stores processing dozens of orders every day.

“That level of trust is everything for an independent agency,” Deboves says.

Growth has not come without difficulty. Doing agency-grade work alone, with zero marketing budget, in a competitive market, was the biggest challenge the agency faced early on.

Method and automation solved it. A strict quality playbook covers performance, accessibility, and security, all verified rather than claimed. Alongside it, an AI-powered operations layer keeps everything running smoothly.

Automation Behind the Scenes

Deboves connected Claude, built by Anthropic, to the agency’s tools through MCP connectors, starting with Cloudways. Audits, security checks, and cache management across the whole client fleet now take minutes instead of days.

“A small crew can now operate like a large team without losing the human touch,” Deboves notes.

Three strategies drive the agency’s growth. First, the subscription model keeps incentives aligned, since the agency only wins if a client’s site keeps performing. Second, an uncompromising technical bar keeps sites fast, accessible, and hardened, tested the way a real visitor would experience them.

Third, automating everything the client never sees frees up human time for what clients do see: design, content, and advice.

The most demanding project so far involved deploying a GDPR consent banner across the entire client fleet in one move. A single Cloudflare Worker generates the banner for every site, matched to each client’s brand colors, with strict guardrails so a failure can never break a client’s website.

“It taught me that the hard part of agency work is not building one great site, it is building systems that keep dozens of sites great at the same time,” Deboves reflects.

Three tools anchor daily operations. Elementor Pro, with its AI assistant Angie, powers the design system while keeping every site fully editable for clients. Cloudways and its MCP run the entire hosting operation, covering servers, applications, security, backups, and cache from one place.

Claude serves as the daily copilot. Connected to Cloudways and WordPress through MCP, it audits, verifies, purges, writes, and checks work automatically. “It changed what an independent agency can take on,” Deboves says.

Choosing the Right Host

The search for hosting led Deboves to Cloudways, driven by a need for real cloud performance without a sysadmin team. The combination of DigitalOcean infrastructure with managed simplicity sealed the decision.

Each site runs as an isolated application, backed by daily backups, server-level caching out of the box, and a real API. “It hit the exact balance I needed: full control when I want it, zero babysitting when I do not,” Deboves says.

The API and MCP have made the biggest difference. When hardening security across the whole fleet, covering SSH access policies, PHP execution restrictions, and HTTPS enforcement, the MCP let the team verify every application in minutes. The same review used to take a full day.

Cache purging through the MCP is now built into the agency’s quality loop after every fix. Daily backups and one-click vertical scaling round out the picture, letting the agency promise clients only what it can verify in a dashboard.

Experience with other hosts, including classic shared hosting from client projects, makes the contrast clear. “On shared hosting you fight the platform, opaque limits, no isolation, support that reads from a script,” Deboves says. Cloudways, by comparison, offers predictable performance and full automation through its API.

Building Small and Honest

Aloha Pixel plans to stay deliberately small. The goal is to grow its recurring portfolio, deepen its Ocean Friendly mission with more reef projects, and keep exploring how far AI-assisted operations can take an independent agency.

Clients are attracted through reputation, local presence, and content. They stay because the subscription has no lock-in, support comes with committed response times, and they eventually own their site outright.

“Clients stay because leaving would mean losing something that works, not because a contract traps them,” Deboves says.

For anyone starting an agency in this space, the advice is direct: be small, be honest, be premium. Pick standards worth keeping, put them in writing, and let the work speak through verifiable results. Automate the invisible tasks from day one so energy goes where clients actually notice it.

The agency’s guiding motto sums up its journey best. “Aloha Pixel is not just a name: it is a mindset made of respect, sharing, and responsibility. Love and respect for home, for all life,” Deboves says.
