WordPress has become a center stage for all the businesses around the world. Brands are becoming publishers as they understand that brand building has gone beyond product development. Today good brands survive on humanized content, and price is not the only deciding factor but affinity has a part to play. This is why it is now getting increasingly important for brands to develop a relationship with consumers and their subsequent needs.

Aaron Lee WordPress Interview

Today, every single business, whether small or large, is involved in producing valuable and helpful content for their buyer persona. This has made WordPress a darling among small business owners. Check out Cloudways WordPress hosting for SMB.

To elaborate and discuss why WordPress is an essential tool for business and what are different things that companies adopting the platform should consider. I contacted my best friend and blogger extraordinaire, Aaron Lee.

Aaron Lee Wei Ren is one of the finest bloggers on the social web right now, who writes on the topics related to business, social media and marketing. Twitter (@AskAaronLee) is his specialty as he owns a community of nearly half a million people. He is also social media manager at Binkd. He has worked with many companies on content strategy and planning. He stands fifth in the list of Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers in 2013 published by the coveted Forbes magazine.

Cloudways: Why do you think so many businesses are turning to WordPress for powering their website?

Aaron Lee Wei-Ren: In my honest opinion, I believe more businesses—especially small businesses and startups—are turning to WordPress simply because of its flexibility and how easy it is to use.

Today, WordPress isn’t used just for blogging. The platform can be used by businesses and startups to do basically anything such as creating a corporate website, create landing pages, promote their portfolio and even launch an ecommerce store.

The best part is [that] it can be done with little knowledge of coding and won’t cost as much as creating a website from scratch. This fits businesses who doesn’t have the budget to develop their own website.

Cloudways: Do you think businesses are finding WordPress easier to use than other CMS solutions present in the market?

Aaron Lee Wei-Ren: Definitely! I have worked as a writer for several blogs and have seen many CMS backends. One thing that I noticed about most of them is they are not as simple as WordPress. I remembered one of them didn’t allow me to upload any photos on the blog right away—it was a nightmare.

WordPress has an advantage as websites using it are built to personalize and it sets itself apart from other CMSs because of this. Think Apple vs. Blackberry before Android came along, Apple won because it was easier to personalize using its library of apps.

Cloudways: How do you see WordPress being used by bigger companies in the future?

Aaron Lee Wei-Ren: It’s tough to say as new platforms and startups are coming up every day. However, I believe in the next couple of years, more businesses would use WordPress as it is reliable and cost-effective.

Cloudways: How important is it for businesses to consider investing into reputable hosting for WordPress?

Aaron Lee Wei-Ren: Reputable hosting is one of the most important investments for a company. When I started to choose a hosting service for my WordPress blog at AskAaronLee.com, I chose a hosting company that wouldn’t blow a hole in my pocket. However as my traffic grew, there were plenty downtime issues. I remembered Alyssa Milano tweeted an article on my blog and my blog went down right away as it couldn’t stand the traffic she diverted.

That is when I finally decided to choose a more reliable hosting and it was my best investment. There was hardly any downtime and most importantly my traffic increased as a result of its stability.

Cloudways: Do you suggest business owners to self-host a WordPress site, or managed hosting for wordpress is a better option?

Aaron Lee Wei-Ren: I would choose to go with a managed WordPress hosting simply because they specialized in WordPress hosting. Therefore, they would have better security and most importantly blazing-fast loading speed compared to a self-host WordPress.
