WooCommerce is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms, with 6.3 million live websites using the WooCommerce plugin.
Kalviyo also has a sizable user base. Over 151,000 of the world’s most renowned brands use its email and SMS marketing platform.
Combining both seems like a no-brainer.
WooCommerce offers great flexibility and a wide range of marketing and tech stack integrations. Kalviyo, on the other hand, offers advanced features such as email segmentation, email automation, pre-built reports, and drip campaigns.
This integration improves promotional capabilities for an ecommerce store or, as Kalviyo puts it, “WooCommerce merchants drive 46X average ROI with Klaviyo”.

Integrate Klaviyo With WooCommerce
Let’s walk through setting up the Klaviyo extension in WooCommerce and enabling the integration within Klaviyo.
First, log into your Klaviyo, WooCommerce, and WooCommerce Marketplace account. If you have more than one Klaviyo account, ensure you’re logged out of the ones you don’t want to integrate with WooCommerce.
– Klaviyo Login Page
- Go to your WooCommerce dashboard, Plugins → Add New Plugin. Type “Klaviyo” in the search bar, then Install and Activate it.
- From the left navigation, go to Marketing → Klaviyo.
- Next, connect your Klaviyo account to WooCommerce by clicking on the Connect Account button.
- Click on the Approve button to connect Klaviyo with WooCommerce.
Now, you can configure the settings you like:
- Add Email Marketing Consent Checkbox: Optionally, add a checkbox to your checkout page for email marketing consent.
- Choose Email Subscriber List: Use the Add email subscribers to this list dropdown to select a list. If no lists are available, create a new one under the Lists and Segments tab.
- Set Consent Label Language: On your checkout page, enter the language for the consent label next to the checkbox.
- To convert all future orders and product events to one standard currency, check the box labeled Convert all currencies to one standard currency and select your currency.
- Once you’re satisfied with the configuration of your Klaviyo and WooCommerce integration, click Complete Setup.
Add Klaviyo Embedded Form to WooCommerce
Integrating Kalviyo and WooCommerce is just the first part of the integration process. Next, you need to embed the Klaviyo form into your WooCommerce store, preferably in the Theme Header (header.php) file.
- Go to Appearances → Theme File Editor.
- After that, locate the Theme Header (header.php) from the Theme Files.
- Next, look carefully at where the body tag of your website theme starts. For example:
<body <?php body_class(); ?>>
- Now, go to the Klaviyo dashboard and click on Sign-up forms.
- From there, you can create a new signup form to embed in your store to capture emails for your email marketing campaigns. Here’s what I created…just a basic form.
- You must install Sign-up forms on your site to display them and collect emails. To do that, click on Add forms to website.
- When a new window appears, copy and paste the code before the </body> tag on every page you want to display the forms.
- Go back to the Theme File Editor and simply paste the code like so.
- Once you’re done, visit your site and refresh the page. As you can see below, Klaviyo has successfully integrated with my WooCommerce store.
Test Your WooCommerce Integration
To test the integration, we simply check if our signup form is collecting and saving emails properly within Klaviyo.
- Let’s open our site and fill out the popup signup form we created with Klaviyo. I’ll type in [email protected].
- Once I click on the SIGN ME UP! button, I’ll see the offer code I set up earlier, and my email will be saved in Klaviyo.
- When I go back to my Klaviyo account, I can see all the emails saved in my list.
Ensuring WooCommerce Store Performance With Cloudways Autonomous
Imagine you run an email marketing campaign with Klaviyo, and your eCommerce store experiences a surge in traffic during peak shopping periods like Black Friday. Typically, without autoscaling capabilities, your store would risk crashing under the increased load.
But with Cloudways Autonomous, your request first goes through Cloudflare. Cloudflare then forwards the request to a primary cloud load balancer, which distributes the traffic across multiple WordPress pods (such as Pod 1, Pod 2, Pod N).
Autoscaling on Cloudways Autonomous, powered by Kubernetes, adjusts the number of pods based on traffic changes, ensuring optimal resource allocation for consistent performance.
So, how do you enable WordPress autoscaling using Cloudways Autonomous? The good news is, you don’t have to do anything.
There’s no toggle. No switch. Autoscaling is enabled by default on Cloudways Autonomous.
Simply choose a plan, set up your WordPress or WooCommerce site, and point your domain.
Your site will then be hosted on an autoscaling infrastructure with built-in autoscaling and load balancing to handle even the most strenuous traffic.
With Autonomous, everything is fully managed and set up for you.
Troubleshoot Your WooCommerce Integration
If you’re experiencing issues with your Klaviyo integration for WooCommerce, check the common integration errors mentioned below and how to solve them:
Scenario 1: “Unable to Access the Orders API, Please Check Connection Settings and Try Again”
This error suggests that Klaviyo is attempting to validate the WooCommerce integration and retrieve an order count, but the API is either returning an unexpected value or no value at all. This issue must be resolved within WooCommerce since the integration hasn’t been successfully connected to Klaviyo yet.
To troubleshoot this issue:
- Make an API call to the order count endpoint to gather more details about what is being passed to Klaviyo.
Here’s an example of a cURL request to use:
curl https://STORE_URL/wp-json/wc/v3/orders \
-u CONSUMER_KEY:CONSUMER_SECRET |
Replace STORE_URL, CONSUMER_KEY, and CONSUMER_SECRET with your store’s URL and WooCommerce credentials.
Scenario 2: “Ensure Your WooCommerce Store Has HTTPS and SSL Enabled”
Klaviyo requires your WooCommerce store URL to use HTTPS, meaning a valid SSL certificate must be in place. If your store is currently on HTTP instead of HTTPS, this will cause integration problems.
To check your SSL certificate:
- Visit the SSL Server Test by Qualys SSL Labs to verify if your SSL certificate is valid.
- Klaviyo needs this test to pass with an A grade.
Cloudways’ free SSL hosting makes deploying a free SSL certificate to your websites easy for a secure cloud hosting experience.
Scenario 3: “To Avoid Functionality Disruptions, You May Need to Disable the Following Plugins: Plugin Name(s)”
If you receive this message, it usually means that caching or redirecting plugins active in WordPress are interfering with Klaviyo’s integration and causing connection issues.
To resolve this issue:
- Temporarily disable any caching or redirect plugins during the Klaviyo integration setup process.
