Cloudways: Can you give a brief description of your agency?
Kyle: KC Web Design is a web design and marketing agency in Australia. We specifically work with small and medium-sized businesses and provide them with a one-stop solution for their website design, development, management, and online marketing.
Cloudways: What kind of websites do you build?
Kyle: We build informational websites for businesses, ecommerce stores, and blogs.
Cloudways: Do you focus on the Australian region only?
Kyle: We advertise and promote ourselves in Australia but also have a few clients in New Zealand.
Cloudways: What challenges were you facing that compelled you to start looking for a better solution?
Kyle: We were unhappy with the current hosting provider we were using for our websites. Their customer service was poor, the user experience managing our WordPress websites was poor, and they didn’t have Australian servers.
Cloudways: What specific solution were you looking for in your ideal solution to your problem?

Kyle: We instantly noticed a huge decrease in page loading time on all of our clients’ websites because the server was now located in Australia instead of Singapore. Using the backend server management on the Cloudways website was also much easier.

Kyle: The biggest impact Cloudways has had on our business is the massive increase in speed to our client’s websites by having the server located in Australia instead of overseas. It’s also much easier to manage clients’ websites from the Cloudways dashboard since we can jump around as needed without logging into separate accounts.
Cloudways: What cloud providers did you choose? What do you think of the flexibility of choosing a cloud provider at Cloudways?
Kyle: We ended up choosing Linode as our cloud server. They seemed to have exactly what we were looking for at a reasonable price. It’s great that Cloudways provides so many options for providers, and if we need to enable another server for a different purpose, there are plenty to choose from.
Kyle: Some of our favorite features of Cloudways are the ability to scale the server up as needed, the bot protection to prevent spam on our clients’ sites, one-click SSL certificates, and the built-in website caching using Varnish.
Cloudways: How about staging sites? Did it help in your workflows?
Kyle: We always use staging sites for larger updates to client sites without worrying about impacting the live site. Once we are ready, it’s very simple to push the new version out.
Cloudways: Was there anything surprising about moving to Cloudways? Do you think the price-to-performance ratio is better than any other hosting provider?
