This Infographic Shows How Cloudways Makes App Deployment On Google Compute Engine Easy

by Ahsan Parwez  February 14, 2015

For anyone who has been following our blog lately, they must have read about the convenient app deployment powers of Cloudways Cloud Platform on trusted Google Compute Engine (GCE) infrastructure.

But there will be many who will say: “What if we could directly deploy on GCE?”

Well, no one’s stopping you.

You’ll only have to do a few things.

First, sign up for a Google Cloud Platform account and figure out pricing.

Then, you can SSH your way into GCE instance. Add firewall rules and then install LAMP stack. (You know Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.) Then, setup your database and upload your preferred app.

Once the app package is uploaded, you just install it and connect it with database.

Isn’t that a walk in the park? Right! But what if it gets stuck? What would you do then? Well, from the top, you’ll start. (And, I wish you good luck with that.)

BUT! There is an easier way. So easy that it will be take a few clicks and a small coffee break. On Cloudways, we have automated the entire process of deploying an app or framework on Google Compute Engine. You just sign up, configure your server to your needs, and launch. In 7 minutes (or less), you’ll get a fully optimized server with your desired app or framework and 20+ additional features.

Oh yeah, did I tell that when you self-deploy, you also self-manage the server. Fun, right?!?!

On Cloudways, our team will manage the server for you. So, you’ll only have to worry about project deployment and functionality.

Here’s an infographic which explains the ease of Cloudways.

Do we have an option to manage our GCE instance via SSH like install HHVM+FCGI+SPDY with Nginx ? or we just need to stick with your built engine?

    • You get SSH access to your GCE server through Cloudways platform, but you can’t change the server setup/built as you don’t have the root access. Our setup is pre-configured running Nginx, Varnish, Apache, Memcache and we have found it to be the most stable setup supporting PHP based platforms and websites.
