Sammie Ellard-King: Hello, my name is Sammie, 33. I’m the Founder of Up the Gains, based in London, UK. I’ve a marketing and sales background for hospitality groups.
I was deep in debt during my 20s and turned my life around by teaching myself about personal finance. I’m now on a mission to help others do the same by demystifying personal finance topics in a candid and accessible manner.
I love bringing brands to life from idea to product, and my responsibilities with the company are to oversee the growth of the website and brand channels.
Cloudways: What services does your organization offer, how many clients do you have, and which market do you serve? Please also tell us about your team.
Sammie Ellard-King: Up the Gains provides free and valuable content related to investing, saving, budgeting, and making money. We’ve over 200 guides on our website that focus on these topics.
Our USP is creating relatable content. There’s a lot of boring or poorly written content within the personal finance space, so we’re turning this on its head, providing a hub of top-quality information for our readers.
Our team is small, with four other freelancers and me. Two writers, a virtual assistant (VA), and a video editor. We’ve 45K monthly visitors, which has grown 84% MoM on average for the past 5 months.

Sammie Ellard-King: I’d like to see the dashboard and backend more beginner friendly. It’s difficult to navigate at first, but you get used to it, so perhaps you would consider this or add how-to guides.
