Cloudways: Tell us about yourself. What is your designation at the agency? What are your core responsibilities?

Chris Mackey: I’m Chris Mackey, the Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Imperium Social.

Cloudways: What services does your agency provide and how many clients do you currently have? Please tell us a bit about your agency here, like which capacity do you operate in, your team size, your market, and your USP.

Chris Mackey: Imperium Social is Kingston’s most responsive and customer service-oriented website design company. Cloudways: How did you first hear about Cloudways? Name one major problem that you were facing that made you switch to Cloudways. Something that was the tipping point, and how Cloudways fixed that for you.?

Chris Mackey: Heard about Cloudways through another agency. We wanted a better workflow to allow clients to view the site during development and were struggling to find a reliable system to do this. Cloudways gave us the perfect system with their staging servers to accomplish this.

Cloudways: Before Cloudways, which hosting solution did you use? Are you using any other hosting service currently? If “Yes” Why?

Chris Mackey: Before Cloudways we were using WPX hosting. Honestly a really great option for smaller operations but we needed something better to allow us to scale.

Cloudways: What was your experience with Cloudways when you first signed up? Please tell us about first impressions.

Chris Mackey: Great first impression, a very responsive support team, and my account manager was always there when I needed him. Shout out to Shawn Alfanso for being my guy!

Cloudways: In your opinion, what sets us apart from other hosting providers? How has our in-built support for Php-based apps such as WordPress, Laravel, and Magento made matters easier for you?

Chris Mackey: Deploying a WordPress site is incredibly fast and easy to do. We also have a base site template with all our standard plugins installed so we can quickly get development rolling for our clients. Cloudways makes it easy to clone an application to another server for development.

Cloudways: How do you use Cloudways to solve your client’s problem(s)?

Chris Mackey: Our first project was a 21 site WordPress Multi-Site for the Athletic Association out of British Columbia. This would have been really challenging to pull off on other hosts, but with Cloudways it was easy as I could track everything in one place and their support team was there to help our team during the launch to make sure everything was functioning properly server and application wise.

Cloudways: How has Cloudways contributed to the success of your agency? Tell us about how Cloudways’ features align with your needs.

Chris Mackey: Great server providers and a great support team helps us scale our agency with confidence. Having the proper infrastructure behind our website development gives us the confidence to go after bigger and better website projects.

Chris Mackey: Digital Ocean: They are perfect for our needs and have a lot of Canadian server locations which is the majority of our client base.

Cloudways: If you could briefly describe the values you perceive from Cloudways?

Chris Mackey: Cloudways seems to truly care about it’s agencies and that is very apparent in their support and account managers.

Chris Mackey: Yes, less time focusing on small problems caused by servers and less costs as we can have more sites on servers than previous hosts.
