Cloudways: Please tell us about yourself. Your name, what is your designation at the agency? What are your core responsibilities?

Apurva: My name is Apurva Anand, and I am a Strategic Partnership Manager and Project Manager at CedCommerce Inc., based in Lucknow, U.P. India, where my core responsibilities are:

  • Discuss and manage the project for successful delivery;
  • Prepare useful documentation for any projects such as BRD, FRD, SRS, User flow, etc.;
  • Discuss with current partners for better synchronization;
  • Discuss with potential partners for future collaboration regarding hosting and Adobe Commerce clients;
  • Involvement in project budgeting and timeline estimation;
  • Grievance handling;
  • Organize webinars and engagement in events, meetups, etc.

Cloudways: What services does your agency provide, and how many clients do you currently have? Please tell us a bit more about your agency. Which market do you serve?

Apurva: CedCommerce is an ecommerce extension and website development company started in 2010. We develop multivendor marketplace extensions/add-ons and integration solution partners with all the top marketplaces worldwide, such as Walmart, Newegg, Lazada, etc., and mobile ecommerce stores for the client. Cloudways: How did you first hear about Cloudways? Name one major problem that you were facing that made you switch to Cloudways. Something that was the tipping point, and how Cloudways fixed that for you.

Apurva: We first heard about you while researching some good hosting providers. The major problem solved after we switched to Cloudways is the support and services.

Apurva: Before beginning the re-platforming to Magento 2 process, a thorough and well-thought-out project planning and discovery process is required. We think a project’s success depends on a rigorous and well-documented discovery process.

A successful project discovery occurs when both teams are confident in the project’s objectives, key stakeholders, work scope, and success criteria.

We avoid adding anything to the project scope that is not essential or crucial to launching because, in our opinion, smaller projects are typically more successful. Our project discovery process’s main objectives are:

  • Define the project’s stakeholders and identify the important team members who will be involved in daily decision-making.
  • You can understand the new website users’ characteristics, requirements, difficulties, and routines by creating client personas.
  • Keep track of success criteria and user stories. What on the website has to be done, and how successful are those efforts measured? What steps must the website’s administrators take?
  • A comprehensive examination and instruction on the Magento platform itself ensure that the merchant is completely aware of its potential and limitations.
  • A detailed scope and schedule for the Magento 2 project that details all the design and development necessary to meet the success criteria.
  • Each team was given tasks to complete, including collaboration with outside parties.
  • Make all final decisions regarding the technology needed for the project, including hosting, security, major integrations, etc.

After the Magento 2 project discovery phase is complete, each team moves forward with the development process, knowing that their business needs have been carefully researched and recorded and are fully aware of the project’s objectives.

Apurva: Before Cloudways, we used Hostgator, Hostinger, SiteGround, and GoDaddy. We usually recommend Cloudways only to our customers, but sometimes clients already have their own hosting already, so we need to work on that.

Cloudways: What are your thoughts on Cloudways caching & server technologies (Varnish, Elasticsearch, Redis, etc.)? How impactful are they for Magento 2.x applications?

Apurva: Elasticsearch is a must for Magento 2.4.x, and caching is required to improve front-end speed.

Cloudways: Out of the 5 cloud providers available on Cloudways which one(s) do you prefer to use and why?

Apurva: We use DigitalOcean & AWS Cloud due to clients’ trust in them, affordable pricing, and many clients already using it.

Cloudways: How do you resell Cloudways to your clients?

Apurva: We suggest Cloudways to all our clients as the server is needed for all the projects. Moreover, we suggest CDN & SMTP add-ons, etc. as well, based on project requirements.

Cloudways: Could you briefly describe the values you get from Cloudways?

Apurva: Better support & instant acknowledgment of the issues/queries. We understand issue fixing takes time but acknowledging should be instant, and till now, due to live chat, it has generated great value. We expect the same in the future as well. In terms of technical knowledge, Cloudways is already the best.

Cloudways: What features or improvements would you like to suggest for our platform?

Apurva: A customer wants to spend less time in configuration and more on the business. Hence, if you can implement a search feature that helps customers navigate a setting, it will improve the user experience. For example, as a customer, I can come to the platform and search for SMTP or any other setting, and I’ll be navigated to the respective page.
