Cloudways: Hi Ryan, thank you for joining us today. Let’s start with your introduction & brief work history.

Ryan: Great, my name is Ryan Tomlinson and I am president of Gooder Marketing. We are a web development and internet marketing company that focuses on custom website development and SEO.

Cloudways: Interesting! So what is your agency’s name, and where is it headquartered?

Ryan: Gooder Marketing is Based in Barrie, Ontario Canada

Cloudways: What is your designation at the agency and your core responsibilities?

Ryan: As President of the company I have a lot of responsibilities, but my main responsibility is project management and client success.

Cloudways: What services does your agency provide, and what’s your target market? Also, how many clients do you currently have, and what are your plans with the agency?

Ryan: We offer a wide variety of services including custom website development, SEO, Social media marketing, web hosting and we are a reseller for Google Workspace. Our clients range from large to small businesses within Canada.

Cloudways: So, what is your agency’s USP, and how big is your team?

Ryan: One of the main things that set us apart from our competitors is that we put a big focus on planning. We take our clients through a lot of exploration to ensure we understand exactly what they want and educate them on the best practices and solutions. We then put all this information together into a project charter which sets us off on the right foot forward.

Cloudways: How did you discover Cloudways? What convinced you to move to Cloudways, and is there any major problem that got solved after this switch?

Ryan: It seemed every 2-3 years I was disappointed with our web hosting provider. I was tired of having issues with providers and I wanted to move to Google or AWS hosting, but I found directly purchasing hosting from these vendors was not as easy as I wanted it to be. I wanted a clean simple backend that allowed me to spin up a new website quickly and easily. That is when I found cloadways, and they provided just that plus more!

Cloudways: Which hosting provider were you using before Cloudways? And are you currently using any other hosting service?

Ryan: We have used Hostgator, Godaddy, Hostiso and a few others. We have moved many of our sites onto Cloudways servers, but we still do have a few on our old legacy servers.

Cloudways: What, in your opinion, sets Cloudways apart from other hosting providers? Has our built-in support for PHP apps like WordPress, Laravel, and Magento made things easier for you?

Ryan: I love how Cloudways has provided the ability to have Google or AWS hosting, but they take on the responsibility to manage the server, and allow our company to focus on quickly migrating a website and launching it on Cloudways.

Cloudways: How has Cloudways contributed to your agency’s success? Tell us about how Cloudways’ features align with your needs.

Ryan: Cloudways has been great. It has allowed us to provide a better hosting solution to our client. And we have not had any large outages to any of the cloudways servers we have.

Cloudways: Which IaaS provider do you prefer from the five choices (DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS, Google Cloud) on Cloudways?

Ryan: We are a Google reseller, so we will always choose Google 🙂

Cloudways: How do you resell Cloudways to your clients?

Ryan: We purchase large blocks of hosting from Cloudways and we break it out to service our customers.

Cloudways: Did you free up resources on your end after switching to Cloudways? If yes, how did you utilize those resources?

Ryan: Yes not having to worry about hosting problems has been a huge stress relief and allowed us to focus on things that are important.

Cloudways: What future features or improvements do you want to see in Cloudways?

Ryan: One request I do have is the ability to separate servers and addons. We use addons like Elastic mail, but when we add a new server, that same elastic mail account is used on the new server. It would be nice to have separate addons per server
