Server Cloning Now Available On Click&Go Platform

Updated on August 8, 2019

With each passing day, our Click&Go user base is growing and we are very thankful to you all for it. This great reception of our platform fuels our ambition to add more convenient features for our customers.

Some weeks back, our CTO, Pere Hospital shared some details about the upcoming direction of the Click&Go platform. Just a few days back, he also introduced the first addon to our customers, namely the Gmail SMTP for email delivery addon. We hope this addon has made your life easier.

Today, we are happy to announce the availability of a new feature: Server Cloning. This was mostly requested by our customers who are developers. We hope they will love it the way we have provided this.

What is it for?

Well, server cloning is required when a website administrator wants to replicate the successful formula that he or she has come up after many trials and errors. By using this feature, you simply create an exact duplicate of your application server.

Why do I need it?

Good question. A cloned server is excellent when you want a testing or development environment for a required reason. One of the basic reasons of having a cloned server is that developers want to test a new application version. When you update an application, you never know what can go wrong. A clone server gives you the chance to update the application and then adapt the website accordingly.

Similarly, you can experiment with your website’s layout without any fear on a cloned server.

Once you’re done with updating your application or experimenting with a new layout, you can always point this clone to production by mapping the DNS to it.

Who needs this feature?

Well, anyone who operates in a development life cycle—where they test, stage, and then produce websites—would love this feature. And, I think every sensible developer or development agency does it. So, everyone might love this feature. 😀

How do I use it?

That’s mighty easy! On your Server Summary page (the first page you see after login), you will see a new Clone button on the right side of a server’s summary. You can also find this button in the Summary section present inside the Server Management tab.

Just click the Clone button, and you are good to go.

There is also an entry in the Knowledge Base which explains the procedure in detail with pictures.
