Click&Go: What’s Next?

Updated on April 9, 2015

3 Min Read

These have been amazing first few days of service for our new-born Click&Go platform. Nearly 400 servers have been launched, and we have received great feedback. It’s a very promising start!.

But, we keep looking forward. This is why I think it is necessary at this point to give you a quick overview of our short-term roadmap.

What's Next On Click&Go

With the new Click&Go platform, we started with a small set of basic features. Then, staying true to our policy of being responsive to public feedback, we have now started scaling this platform in the direction based on the needs of our clients. In the following lines, I am introducing a set of new features which will become part of Click&Go in the next couple of weeks:

Server cloning

Server cloning is heatedly requested by developers. This is why we picked this feature as our first from the many suggestions we have got on our customers’ wish-list.  Through this feature, you will be able to create a test/dev environment based on your live server with a single click.

SSL deployment from console

Currently, the process to deploy an SSL certificate for your site is cumbersome. We aim at simplicity, so we are creating a tool that will allow you to generate your Certificate Signing Request (or CSR) and install your certificate from the console.

Modify server parameters from console

This will be a cool one and it is usually not found on many other platforms. We will provide you a tab in your console from which you will be able to set core parameters for your server/application. In line with our way of thinking, we will start with a very small number of parameters (Apache timeout, PHP memory_limit, MySQL max_connections, etc.). We are currently working on the list of parameters.

Surely, you can vote for the parameters you want us to add on our feedback page.

Automated Migrator for WordPress

This again is a top request. We know that in order to achieve maximum convenience for our users, we need to make the process for bringing your site to our Click&Go platform extremely simple. This can be done with the help of migrators.

However, given the enormous number of sources customers can come from, this is easier said than done. In any case, we are working on it (and in fact, we already have a working prototype).

Hopefully, we can release this initial-stage WordPress migrator in a couple of weeks. (However, it may not work for everyone coming from anywhere, but we will keep improving it.) The plan is to add other migrators for other applications too.

Gmail for email delivery

Currently, emails are being sent from applications directly from server. To improve the odds of emails not landing in spam folders of users, we will be integrating several email gateways (basically middlemen for the delivery of your applications emails). These will ensure proper email delivery.

We are starting with Gmail that should be available very soon (and, we will follow up with Sendgrid and others in the near future).

Integration with Github

This is something that hopefully will please our developer’s community. Our plan is that you can directly deploy your code to your servers from Github. We will be integrating other software hosting services like Codeship.io, Deployhq.com, etc. (Please vote for your preferred one on our feedback page.)

DigitalOcean integration (Stage One)

This is not something that we are going to roll-out in the next couple of weeks, but we are actively working on it. Customers are already asking for more options regarding where to host. Currently we support Amazon AWS, the leading cloud infrastructure provider.

Our aim is to add few additional selected cloud infrastructure providers that each adds a different value to our service for our customers. DigitalOcean will widen the price range of our Click&Go service as it will offer a cheaper, yet reliable alternative to Amazon.

We are already talking to other providers that would enhance the value of our platform.

I hope that these developments are as exciting for all of you as they are for us. We will be announcing each new feature as we release them, so stay tuned!
