About Brilliant Digital

Brilliant Digital is a UK-based digital marketing and web design agency run by two brothers. It started off as a website design and development agency and recently ventured into other services such as Google Ads and Local SEO. Brilliant Digital started their journey with Cloudways about 5 years back when its hosting provider back then didn’t satisfy its business needs. Fast forward to today, the agency is a happy Cloudways customer and is even growing because of our services. Cloudways: What’s your agency’s name and where is your agency’s headquarters situated?

Alex Calinov: My agency’s name is Brilliant Digital and it’s located in Peterborough, UK.

Cloudways: Tell us about yourself. Your name, what is your designation at the agency? What are your core responsibilities?

Alex Calinov: I’m the founder of Brilliant Digital. It’s a small family business, just myself and my brother. We both build websites. However, my background is in digital marketing, so I usually bring that hat on in several projects that we work on.

Cloudways: What services does your agency provide, and how many clients do you currently have? Please tell us a bit about your agency here, like what you guys do? Your team size, which market do you serve? Your USP, etc.

Alex Calinov: We are a small digital marketing agency. Just myself and my brother. We started as a web design agency helping businesses with all sorts of websites, brochure sites, e-commerce, membership sites, online courses, etc. However, now, we have also started offering Google Ads and Local SEO Services to our clients. We work with a lot of small businesses, and in order to support them and make websites more affordable, we have started offering Pay Monthly Websites, where, instead of paying everything upfront, we’re splitting the costs into 12 monthly installments. And finally, we also support our clients regularly through our Website Maintenance & Support packages.

Cloudways: How did you first hear about Cloudways? Name one major problem that you were facing that made you switch to Cloudways. Something that was the tipping point, and how Cloudways fixed that for you.

Alex Calinov: It was probably about 4-5 years ago when, as the business was growing, so were our needs. Shared hosting wasn’t cutting it anymore. Back then, we weren’t hosting any websites for clients, so Cloudways gave us the infrastructure to do that.

Cloudways: Before Cloudways, which hosting solution you used? Are you using any other hosting service currently?

Alex Calinov: Who doesn’t remember the Baby plan on Hostgator with unlimited websites? LOL. That’s how everything started. Eventually moved to Siteground and then Cloudways.

Cloudways: What was your experience like with Cloudways when you first signed up? Please tell us about your first impressions.

Alex Calinov: Coming from shared hosting, it was nice to feel the raw power of managing our own resources, through a user-friendly panel that Cloudways was providing. The websites were faster, and snappier, so yes, the overall service was very good.

Cloudways: In your opinion, what sets us apart from other hosting providers? How has our in-built support for Php-based apps such as WordPress, Laravel and Magento made matters easier for you?

Alex Calinov: The ability to quickly set up new servers, and deploy a WordPress app in a few minutes was a big win for us. Also, the ability to clone and stage sites allowed us to build an infrastructure to develop websites, and host our clients’ websites, while also providing an ongoing website maintenance service. Knowing that there is additional support from Cloudways that we can rely on is also a big relief.

Cloudways: How do you use Cloudways to solve your client’s problem(s)?

Alex Calinov: Cloudways plays a big role in our Website Maintenance Packages, as we use that to host all our clients’ websites.

Cloudways: How has Cloudways contributed to the success of your agency? Tell us about how Cloudways’ features align with your needs.

Alex Calinov: As I’ve mentioned above, it allowed us to expand and introduce a recurring service for our clients, our website maintenance packages. And more importantly is allowing us to scale as we grow.

Cloudways: Out of five cloud providers available on Cloudways which one(s) do you prefer to use and why?

Alex Calinov: DigitalOcean. I used to be big fan of Vultr, until a few times when they have some masive downtimes, and not just once, and since then I decided to use DigitalOcean. So far I haven’t had any problems.

Cloudways: How do you resell Cloudways to your clients?

Alex Calinov: We don’t. We use the hosting as part of our Website Maintenance Packages. We don’t offer any hosting options. If someone is interested in just hosting, we’re happy to refer them directly to Cloudways.

Cloudways: If you could briefly describe the values you perceive from Cloudways?
