Running an online eCommerce store is not easy.  Remember that the customers aren’t just looking for the right products at the right price. They are looking for a complete shopping experience that starts with selecting the right product (thanks to accurate/clear images, and product details) and ends when the customer finalizes the transaction.

Sometimes customers add products to their carts, go to the checkout page, but do not complete the order because of any reason (important reasons are slow website load time and improper navigation). As a result, you lose sales.

To overcome this issue, I will offer my ideas on reducing abandoned cart rates and thus increase store revenue. I am also going to discuss some of the best WooCommerce abandoned cart plugins that actually add value to your store’s business processes.

So, let’s dive in.

What is WooCommerce Abandoned Cart Rate?

While abandoned cart rate is an important performance metric, it is especially important for WooCommerce stores because of the higher market share.

Here’s how the abandoned cart rate is measured:

The number of carts that are not taken through the final checkout is divided against the total orders received. The percentage gives the Abandoned Cart Rate that indicates the ratio of customers (or more precisely orders, since a customer might abandon multiple orders) that fail to finalize transactions.

If you can reduce this ratio, you could add significantly to the store’s fiscal bottom line and see your revenue grow. In this quest, WooCommerce Abandoned Cart plugins add a lot of value because these plugins automate most of the process and integrate well with the overall business processes.

WooCommerce Abandoned Cart Plugins

Cart abandonment is a serious business challenge that WordPress plugin developers love to crack. As such, there are a number of great plugins on the market that make it all difficult for the WooCommerce store owners to pick the right plugin for their stores.

Create Abandoned Cart Emails Template

Emails for abandoned carts are essential email flows that you can set up right from within the plugin. To do this, go to Email Templates and click Add New Template.

Add New Template

On the next screen, you could see a form where you have multiple options such as Template Name, Subject, Email Body, Use WooCommerce Template Style, Email Template Header Text, Send This Email and Send a Test Email, etc.

Name and Subject

So for testing purposes, I am going to add an email template.

I will start by adding a Template Name which is private and email recipients cannot see it. The second field is the Subject, where you add the subject line for the email.

Name and Subject

Email Body

Next comes the Email Body. As you can see, all important variables including first name, last name, full name, product information, cart content, cart link, the date when the cart was abandoned, an unsubscribe link are already available. If you wish, you can also add a shortcode as well. As such you only have to add the language parts of the body.

Email Body

WooCommerce Template Style

The next option is the WooCommerce template style. We recommend you check this box because this would enable the default WooCommerce Template Style for the emails. Check out the following screenshot to see how the emails would look with this option enabled.

Email Template Header Text

You have the option to add a custom Email Template Header Text.
