Covid – 19 has impacted everything around the world, especially the ability to travel and meet hundreds of people in person. Despite these limitations, the WordPress community is determined to make sure that everyone in the community gets a chance to meet each other on a consistent basis even if it means meeting online.
WordCamp Santa Clarita was an example of an event which was thoroughly organised and had a good number of participants in it as well. Since Cloudways has always prioritised the WordPress community and its growth, We were proud to be a part of this event by being one of the Gold Sponsor.
We also encouraged our entire team to attend the event since these are excellent networking opportunities so let’s hear it from some of our attendees about their experience at WordCamp Santa Clarita.

Since WordCamps are still in an online format it is always a bit sad, we are used to seeing each other in person, hugging and chatting a lot especially about non WordPress stuff. Very often in a community we know a lot about private things from other members’ lives and that is the most powerful thing about WordPress community, we support and help each other in every aspect, not only advicing each other regarding development or so, but being there to help in every situation.
Santa Clarita was a nice experience, I gave a talk in sponsor area on the e-commerce future and it was a quite cool experience, people were enthusiastic and after I’ve finished we had a 15-20 minutes discussion where I’ve answered some nice questions regarding my vision of the e-commerce future and surprisingly many people didn’t know anything about some facts from the talk so I took some more time to explain in depth some of the research results.
All in all, like every WordCamp, you always feel well accepted and appreciated which is one of the strongest WordPress community pillars.

Santa Clarita is a relative new-comer to the WordCamp calendar, having had its first, and only in-person camp, in 2019. The organizers had to spin 190 degrees in 2020, just as everyone did, to put on their first virtual. At the time it was a rudimentary virtual affair. As an attendee 2021 was a significant improvement! Lots of lessons learned across the spectrum of virtual events. The presentations, the platform, and engagement was a pleasure. I’m looking forward to future Santa Claritas, whether in person or virtual. Big shout out to the organizing team!

WC Santa Clarita was a relatively small event but had quite a few amazing personalities in both the attendees and the speakers list. I found it highly engaging and interactive even though it was virtual and organized on zoom.
Our participation was in all three forms, we attended the event as attendees, one of our team mates, Aleksander Savkovic, gave a wonderful speaking session and we were the gold sponsors for the event as well.
