WooCommerce 3.3 is finally available since January 30, 2018, and had over 1581 commits from 80 contributors. Its beta version was available for testing for the last December.
WooCommerce 3.3 is a minor update and brings some new interesting features, especially at the level of orders screen, stock management, and general improvements in performance.
In this update, the emphasis is on improving the overall flow of the store and improving the buyer’s journey to the store. As a result, the stores might see an increase in the overall conversion and other store performance numbers.
Note: As always, make sure the extensions and themes are compatible with the update, test on a staging site or if you can make a full backup of your store.
Let’s explore WooCommerce 3.3 features in details!
Improved Orders Screen
WooCommerce 3.3 features a resigned Orders screen that introduces several much-needed changes. The small and confusing icons have been replaced with larger and clearer buttons for the ease of store owners. This is a great design enhancement that increases the chances of landing a sale. This feature offers full backend compatibility so that the extensions and custom code could work without any major hassles.
Improved and Automated Backorders
WooCommerce 3.3 comes with a whole new stock status — “On Backorder”. Now merchants and store managers could use this feature for inventory management purposes. Other minor changes to the inventory management process (and the integration of more automation), stock management has become more intuitive.
Better Support for Non-WooCommerce Themes
WooCommerce 3.3 offers more support for themes that are not expressly designed for WooCommerce stores. In the previous versions, the lack of this functionality seriously restricted the choice of themes for Magento stores. In the new version, the store owners could even opt for themes that do not declare support for WooCommerce.
Image Size Improvements
You can choose and change the aspect ratio of the images in your WooCommerce store using the Customizer. Themes can also set image sizes when declaring WooCommerce support. This greatly widens the choice of images for the stores and allows store management to use mages that exactly fit the theme’s specifications.
Wrapping Up!
WooCommerce 3.3 introduces several much- needed improvements and upgrades. As a result, the new version will add great value to the stores that decide to upgrade. If you think I have missed out an important feature or have a comment about the new version, do leave a comment below.
