We love it when we do something great. A few weeks ago, we announced the integration of Let’s Encrypt SSL on the Platform. This announcement was followed by the beta release of the Cloudways Platform.
During this time, we also worked on significant improvements. We worked on things that matter a lot to our users. We worked on Varnish-HTTPS compatibility.
HTTPS Websites Are Compatible With Varnish
Yes, it is finally here.
We are thrilled to announce Varnish cache rules on ThunderStack have been rewritten. Web apps on Cloudways Cloud Platform are now capable of serving content at a faster pace. You don’t have to compromise on the security of sensitive data. Loading time has gone down drastically for websites due to optimized resource allocation at the server-end.
How Does It Work?
Here is a simple explanation. Whenever a request is passed to Nginx, it is sent to Varnish cache for availability. If the request isn’t present there, it is sent to Apache for delivery. Once Apache delivers, Varnish stores a copy of this request for future deliveries.
For HTTPS websites, instructions have been set in such a manner that any data that is sensitive should not be stored in Varnish cache.
How Will It Work?
You do not have to do anything. Every new server comes with Varnish-compatible HTTPS environment. If you have a server that was launched before March 10, 2016, you can just contact our Live Chat support to enable this feature for you. You can also create a ticket on the Support Portal.
