How to Install WordPress Multisite on Google Cloud

Install WordPress Multisite on Google Cloud

Step 1:

Create an account on Cloudways by clicking the Signup button [You don’t even need a credit card to get the trial]. You can also signup through Linkedin, Google, and Github.

Step 2:

You will have to verify your email address and complete the signup process to get started.

Step 3:

Once done, you will see a screen with the ‘LAUNCH’ button. Click it to start the server launching process.

Step 4:

Now, fill the necessary details to start the server.

On the Application and Server Details page,

  • Select ‘Multisite Version x.x.x’ under the ‘Application & Server Details’ tab
  • Add App name
  • Add Server name
  • Add Project type

Step 5:

Select Google Cloud Platform from the pool of cloud hosts available.

Step 6:

Now set the ‘Server Size,’ ‘Bandwidth,’ and ‘Storage’ according to your needs.

Step 7:

For this installation tutorial, I have used the lowest bandwidth and storage size, and USA – Iowa as my location. You can set the location as per your needs. Just remember, selecting a location that’s near to your targeted audience means improved page speeds.

Step 8:

Note the total price of your selected server parameters. It will be shown at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 9:

Now click on the green ‘Launch Now’ button.

Wait for the server to get ready…

Step 10:

Once the server is ready, click ‘Applications’ in the top-left menu, and then tap the WordPress app.

Under the ‘Application Management’ menu, click ‘Access Details’ tab. Here you can see the WordPress Multisite Admin Panel details. Use these to enter the Dashboard of the WordPress multisite staging site.

Use the URL to open the WordPress admin panel, it will prompt you for the username and password. Copy the credentials from the ‘Admin Panel’ menu.

That’s how you install WordPress Multisite on Google Cloud Server.

Now point your domain and add SSL certificates to WordPress Multisite network.
